Max Payne 1

Max Payne is a BAFTA award winning[1] third-person shooter video game developed by Finnish Remedy Entertainment, produced by 3D Realms and published by Gathering of Developers in July 2001 for Windows. Ports later in the year for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and the GameBoy Advance were published by Rockstar Games. A Macintosh port was published in July 2002 by MacSoft in North America[2] and Feral Interactive in the rest of the World. There were plans for a Dreamcast version of Max Payne, but they were canceled due to the discontinuation of the console.[3] Max Payne was re-released on April 29, 2009 as a downloadable game in the Xbox Originals program for the Xbox 360.[4]

Max Payne is one of the first video games to incorporate "bullet time" into its gameplay, made famous by The Matrix trilogy, as gunplay allows for slowing down of time to dodge bullets. The game features a gritty film noir style and uses graphic novel panels in place of cut scenes to narrate the game. Max Payne is heavily influenced by the Hong Kong action cinema genre, particularly the work of director John Woo, as well as hard-boiled detective novels by authors like Mickey Spillane.[5] Having been developed by the Finnish company Remedy, the game contains many allusions to Norse mythology, particularly Ragnarok, and several of the names used in the game (Alfred Woden, Alex Balder, Aesir Corporation, Asgard Building, Valkyr) are those of the Norse gods and mythos.

Crysis

Crysis is a science fiction first-person shooter video game developed by Crytek Frankfurt, published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, and released in November 2007. It is the first game of a trilogy.[4] A separate game entitled Crysis Warhead was released on September 12, 2008 and follows similar events as Crysis but from a different narrative perspective.[5][6] Crysis, Crysis Warhead and a multiplayer expansion called Crysis Wars were re-released as a compilation pack titled Crysis Maximum Edition on 5 May, 2009.

The game is based in a future where an ancient alien spacecraft has been discovered beneath the ground on an island near the coast of the East Philippines.[7] The single-player campaign has the player assume the role of United States Delta Force operator Jake Dunn, referred to in-game by his call sign, Nomad. Nomad is armed with various futuristic weapons and equipment, most notably a "Nano Muscle Suit" which was inspired by a real-life military concept.[8] In Crysis, the player fights both North Korean and extraterrestrial enemies, in various environments on and around a tropical island in the Pacific near Korea.

Left For Dead Rip

Left 4 Dead is a cooperative first-person shooter video game. It was developed by Turtle Rock Studios, which was purchased by Valve Corporation during development. The game uses Valve's proprietary Source engine, and is available for Windows and the Xbox 360. Development on the game was completed on November 13, 2008 and was released on November 18, 2008 in the United States and on November 21, 2008 in Europe.

Set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, the game pits its four protagonists—dubbed "the Survivors"—against hordes of the infected. There are four game modes: a single-player mode in which allied characters are controlled by AI; a four-player, co-op campaign mode; an eight-player online versus mode; and a four-player survival mode. In all modes, an artificial intelligence (AI), dubbed the "Director", controls level pacing and item spawns, in an attempt to create a dynamic experience and increase replay value.

The Lord of the Rings Conquest is an action game developed by Pandemic Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It is based on the recent The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, and borrows many gameplay mechanics from Pandemic's Star Wars: Battlefront games. The game allows the player to play as both the forces of good and evil, and like The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth, the latter option is based around Sauron stopping the One Ring from being destroyed before he uses it to regain his lost power.[2] On December 23, 2008, the PlayStation 3 demo was made available on the PlayStation Network[5] while the Xbox 360 demo was released January 2, 2009.[6]

Pandemic was aided by Weta Digital in developing the game. They provided many of their digital models, including the fell beasts. Pandemic also used elements that were cut from the films, and have taken inspiration from J. R. R. Tolkien's original fantasy novel, such as a level based loosely around Balin's conquest of Moria, in which Gimli attempts to retake the dwarven city from the orcs. Some inspiration was less direct: the armies of Rohan and Gondor decide not to attack Minas Morgul in the novel, but a level in the game is based on what might possibly have happened if they had. The game uses Howard Shore's score to the films as its soundtrack

Rainbow Six

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (RSV2) is the seventh installment in the Rainbow Six series (nineteenth including expansions). It is a tactical first person shooter video game and the sequel to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas. It was announced by Ubisoft on November 20, 2007. The game was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 18, 2008 in North America and March 20, 2008 in Europe, except in Germany, where the game was delayed.[7][8][9] The Microsoft Windows version, however, was delayed until April 15, 2008.[3] It was released in Japan on April 24, 2008 for the Xbox 360[10] and on May 29, 2008 for the PlayStation 3.[11]

A world-exclusive first-look of the game appeared in the January edition of the Official Xbox Magazine. One of the biggest announcements is that Logan Keller, the lead character from the previous game, has been removed in favor of having the player create his own character to play through the campaign. The player instead assumes the role of "Bishop", a member of the Rainbow squad with a great deal more experience and who is more deeply involved in the story.

The game, billed as "part sequel, part prequel", has events that run both before and concurrently to the story of Logan Keller and continue after where the first game concluded.[12][13] In addition to the ability to customize a character in multiplayer, the player can now customize Bishop, Vegas 2's new protagonist. In single-player, the developers claim to have vastly improved teammate AI, so that now teammates cover each other as they advance. There are also several new commands, for example, the ability of a teammate to throw a grenade at a specific point. It is also possible to give commands to one's AI teammates using the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 headset.

Prince Of Persia Sands Of Time

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a third-person action-adventure computer and video game published by Ubisoft. It was released on November 6, 2003 and is a continuation of the landmark MS-DOS and Macintosh game series Prince of Persia, created by Jordan Mechner in 1989.

The Sands of Time, developed internally at Ubisoft Montreal, successfully captures the mechanics of the original platformer and extends it to the 3D generation. An earlier attempt by The Learning Company to transfer the game to 3D (Prince of Persia 3D) was released in 1999, but failed to meet the standards set by the franchise. The Sands of Time was praised for its visual design, finely tuned game mechanics, and intriguing storyline, winning the game several awards.

The game was developed for the PC, PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Xbox, and later a 2D-version for the Game Boy Advance and mobile phones. The success of The Sands of Time led to two sequels, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, in 2004 and 2005, respectively.

Juiced is a video game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, PC, and mobile phone. The game was delayed for release in 2004 because of its original publisher Acclaim going bankrupt. The game was then picked up by THQ, the game was then further delayed as changes were made to the game.

In early 2006, UK software publisher Focus Multimedia re-released the PC version of Juiced at a new budget price point as part of its Essential games range.

The game offers many different modes including a career mode and arcade mode that present the player with challenges which gradually gets harder. A player can customize the car to suit their style and unlock new ones (by unlocking in arcade mode). A special feature added was the use of nitrous as expected since it is similar to other racing games which have the feature. This can be particularly useful for when the player is behind an opponent or is behind time, but the AI can also use the nitrous oxide.

The game system itself highly inspired by the Underground Need for Speed series itself inspired by the Shutokou Battle series, but the racing style are realistic, similar to Playstation's Gran Turismo. Damages are also distinctively visible on Juiced, and must be repaired before the player can tune up the car.

Company Of Heroes Opposing Fronts Rippes

Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts (abbreviated CoH:OF) is the stand alone expansion pack to Company of Heroes, a RTS game for the PC announced on April 5, 2007. Opposing Fronts was developed by Canadian-based RTS developer Relic Entertainment and published by THQ. The game was released on September 25, 2007 in the US and September 28 in Europe.

Gameplay

[edit] Dynamic Environmental Effects System

The expansion implements a Dynamic Weather Effects system, which consists primarily of real time weather effects and day-to-night time transitions. In addition to these enhancements, certain birds sing at various times of the day and during specific weather patterns. Although Relic had initially indicated otherwise, the Dynamic Weather Effects system has no tactical impact on the battlefield.[1]

[edit] New Single-Player Campaigns

Opposing Fronts introduces two new single player campaigns. They feature campaigns from the British perspective and the German perspective respectively. The British campaign is based on the Liberation of Caen. It features nine missions focusing on the attack by British and Canadian forces from Sword, Gold, and Juno Beaches to the city of Caen. While the German Panzer Elite's campaign is based on the driving back of Allied forces during Operation Market Garden. It features eight playable missions following a Panzer Elite Kampfgruppe in occupied Netherlands that is bracing itself against one of the largest airborne invasions in history.

[edit] CoH With CoH:OF Compatibility

Company of Heroes players are able to play against Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts users. Those who own both games can either play as the Americans or the British against the Wehrmacht or the Panzer Elite. Those who purchase Opposing Fronts without owning the original Company of Heroes, can only play as the British and Panzer Elite armies.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Highly Compressed

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a 2005 computer and video game that was released right before the film release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Both the game and the movie are based on J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth novel in the Harry Potter series.

The game follows the three main characters of the film — namely Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley — and there is an entirely new spell-casting system that allows for collaborative spells. The characters themselves more closely resemble their film counterparts than in previous games. It also has higher-quality graphics than the previous Harry Potter video games. However, the game play in the fourth video game is much more action-oriented, which is a change from the previous games.

In addition, players can play the game with friends, and can combine their magic and spells to make them more powerful. Players can also capture moving beans using Accio and increase their power with collectors, creature, and character, cards.

There is no RPG iteration of the game, unlike with previous titles. In addition, it was pointed out that unlike the previous installments, there was not much room to "run around" such as in the second game where you were allowed to move freely within the castle and on the grounds.

The game is divided into several non-consecutive levels, some of which are locked at the beginning of the game until the player collects enough Triwizard Shields to unlock it.

It is noted as the last Harry Potter game released on GameCube and Xbox.

Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box Highly Compressed

Burnout Paradise (formerly known as Burnout 5) by Criterion Games is the seventh game in the Burnout video game series. It was released in January 2008[2] for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and on February 5, 2009 on Microsoft Windows. It was also released on the PlayStation Store in September 2008.[5] It has an open world set in the fictional Paradise City. The song "Paradise City" by Guns N' Roses is the game's title music and also featured on the in-game soundtrack.

Gameplay

According to Alex Ward, creative director of the game at developer Criterion Games, this game is a "complete reinvention" of the Burnout series.[6] He also said "To create truly next-generation gameplay, we needed to create a truly next-generation game, from the ground up". The game is set in an open-world environment (like the Midnight Club series), and still retains the 60 frames-per-second frame rate that most Burnout games have been able to utilize.[7] Initially day and night cycles were not included in the game but a software update entitled "Davis" added this element to the game. Records will now be kept on players' drivers licenses and there will be statistics such as fastest time and biggest crash for every street in the game. Unlike in previous Burnout games, Crash Mode, now called Showtime, can now be started at any time and place in the game; though Showtime mode is rather different from the usual Crash Mode.[8] Also, for races, players may now take any route to get to the destination. Races and other events are simply started by stopping at any of the 120 traffic lights around Paradise City and applying the accelerator and brake at the same time. Multiple settings have been confirmed to be fully customisable[9][10] such as:

  • "Boost Rules", where the player may choose cars that use the boost styles from previous Burnout games.
  • Whether or not there is traffic in an online event.
  • Start and finish points for online events with up to 15 checkpoints.

The damage system has also been reworked. There are now two different types of crash based on the car's condition after the crash.[11] If the player's car manages to retain all four wheels, and not break its chassis, the player may drive out of the crash and continue playing; this is called a "driveaway". If a player's car loses any of its wheels, has the engine damaged too much from an impact, or winds up outside of the game's map, the car is in a "wrecked" state and the player will have to wait until his car is reset. Cars can also be torn into several pieces, be compressed and deform around objects as you crash into them. However, Alex Ward confirmed in the Official Crash FM podcast that cars may not be ripped in half, as concept pictures and early information had stated. There are also other cars which can be obtained by typing in a sponsor code. These only work for certain regions. One of these sponsor code cars is the Steel Wheels version of the Carson GT concept car, which features the car with an armor plate and supercharger. The code for this car could be obtained from pre-ordering the game from certain retailers. When starting the single player mode you are assigned with a learner's permit and a single car.

While playing, you race and win events to earn points toward a higher license, from a Learners Permit (E-class), D-class, C-class, B-class, A-class, Burnout Paradise (S-class), Burnout Elite (SS-class) up to Criterion Elite (SSS-class). After earning each new license up to and including A-class every event that you complete is reset so you can replay the event again to earn credit towards a new license. Progression beyond the Burnout Paradise license is achieved by winning previously incomplete races and achieving other targets such as finding all of the game's discoverables and beating road rules.

Cars now have manufacturer and model names, which are loosely based on real-world cars but are mostly fictional (some of the cars are even based on those from a previous Burnout game, e.g. the Hunter Manhattan is the Classic from Burnout 2). Cars may not be "tuned up"[12] or customized apart from color changes, which may be done in real-time by driving through the forecourt of a blow shop, which will randomly assign a color to the car, or by selecting the color in the Junkyard where you select your vehicle (after taking the car through an Auto Repair drivethru at least once). Other real-time changes include driving through the forecourt of a gas station to automatically refill your Burnout meter, and driving through the forecourt of a repair shop to automatically repair your car, allowing you to extend a Road Rage or Marked Man event beyond the car's damage limits.[13]

The online lobby system used by most video games has been replaced by a streamlined system known as "Easy Drive". While driving, players simply hit right on the D-Pad and the Easy Drive menu pops up on the bottom left hand corner of their screen. From there, players are able to invite another player from their friends list. Once friends have joined the game, the hosting player is then able to pick from a variety of events to play. There are also special Burnout Racing Team cars that you can get.

Prince Of Persia Two Thrones Highly Compressed

After the events of the previous game, the Prince and Kaileena return to Babylon. As the Prince's vessel nears the shores of the city, he removes the medallion from his chestplate and drops it into the sea. Upon returning to Babylon, he is horrified to find that the city is burning and ravaged by war. His ship is attacked and he and Kaileena are thrown overboard, with Kaileena taken prisoner after drifting ashore. After fighting his way through the city, the Prince discovers that as a result of his efforts on the Island of Time to prevent the Sands of Time from being created, the events of The Sands of Time never happened, thus, the Vizier was never killed. The Vizier possesses the Dagger of Time, and the magical staff, as well. The Vizier is now in search of the Sands of Time, and has captured the Empress of Time to get them. Just as the Prince finds Kaileena, he is captured, a daggertail embedded in his arm. The Vizier kills Kaileena and unleashes the Sands of Time, then impales himself with the Dagger of Time, which now contains the Sands of Time, turning him into an immortal being. The released Sands of Time also strike the Prince, infecting his open wound and embedding the daggertail into his arm. The Prince breaks free of bondage, and escapes, grabbing the Dagger of Time in the process.

As the Prince travels through the city once again to kill the Vizier, he finds that the Sands of Time have affected his mind. He has essentially been split into two personalities: one which, for the most part, strives to do good, although is fueled by vengeance, and the Dark Prince, manifested by an internal voice that speaks to the Prince. The Dark Prince is a cruel and arrogant being, who throughout the game, attempts to convince the Prince that they are the same person, and that the Prince should strive to serve only himself, using the Prince's vengeance as a catalyst for his other emotions. While searching for the Vizier, the Prince encounters Farah, who does not remember him, and is surprised that the Prince knows her name. As the game progresses, the Prince learns more about the nature of the Dark Prince, who is in fact, not a part of the Prince, just the manifestation of the Sands of Time trying to overcome his body and mind. The Prince eventually starts to ignore the Dark Prince, being inspired by Farah to be fueled by compassion for his people who are suffering, rather than be fueled by vengeance for the Vizier.

When the Prince finally finds the Vizier, he casts the Prince into a dried well, where the indwelling Dark Prince tries more aggressively to take control. The Prince eventually finds the dead body of his father, who he had hoped to reconcile with, and is forced to face his wrong actions. By accepting the consequences of what he has done, he silences the Dark Prince, seemingly in permanence. The Prince escapes the well, and once again confronts the Vizier, who he kills by impaling him with the Dagger of Time. Kaileena appears to the Prince and cleanses him of his infection by the Sands of Time, and all his wounds. As the Prince leans down to reach for his father's crown, he is confronted by the Dark Prince, who draws the Prince into his mind, where the two struggle for control. The Prince eventually realizes that fighting the Dark Prince will only intensify his anger, thus feeding the Dark Prince, so he decides t

Far Cry is a first-person shooter video game developed by Crytek Studios from Germany and published by Ubisoft on March 23, 2004 for Microsoft Windows. Far Cry sold 730,000 units within four months of release[1] and has currently sold over 3 million copies worldwide. The original game has since spawned several console ports and a movie.

The game's story follows an ex-U.S. Special Forces operative Jack Carver, who is stranded on a mysterious archipelago. He is searching for a female journalist he was escorting after she went missing when their boat was destroyed by mercenaries. The game includes thematic elements relating to the dangers of weaponizing genetic engineering and the genocide of local islanders as can be seen by the deformed creatures created by a mad scientist named Krieger.

The terrain in Far Cry varies greatly. Set on a South Pacific archipelago, the landscape includes beaches, dense rain forests, towering canyons, mines, swamps, and even volcanic forests. Many of the interiors range from simple beach huts and army camps to elaborate complexes, an underground temple, and ultra-modern research labs. Several of these mazes use the remains of Japanese WWII-era fortifications and bunkers.
